This illustration was made as a book cover for The Epic of Gilgamesh.

I went through many iterations and thumbnails for this piece as I wanted to convene the power and grandeur of the hero Gilgamesh.

My finale design depicts King Gilgamesh wrestling with a snake as it steals the herb of immortality from him at the last moment before he can use it.

I took great inspiration from the statue, Laocoön and His Sons. I wanted to show a great struggle between man and beast with inspiring power.
